A renewed view: Studio Hazar becomes Birrd

Studio Hazar started in 2020 as a freelance side project. Back then, it was positioned as an all-round graphic design practice, designing logos, visuals, and whatever a project needed at that moment. Quite quickly, the work evolved. What began as graphic design became branding design, with a growing focus on identity, consistency, and meaning.

In 2021, the first visual identity for Studio Hazar took shape. It marked a shift toward branding as a craft rather than quick execution. As projects became more complex and strategic, so did the way of working.

By February 2025, Studio Hazar became a full-time business. The services expanded and crystallized: strategic branding, visual identity design, websites and digital experiences, and other brand-relevant touchpoints. The work became more deliberate. More system-driven. More long-term.

From studio to collective

Since its beginning, Studio Hazar has never really worked alone. Every project relied on a trusted network of freelancers, each bringing their own expertise to the table. Over time, that network became stronger, more aligned, and more collaborative. The idea of a branding collective grew naturally from that reality.

Birrd was born as a way to formalize what was already happening: a carefully selected group of independent creatives working together under one shared vision and one quality standard. Not as solo workers operating next to each other, but as a collective that joins forces to take on larger, more challenging branding projects.

The goal isn’t to change what we do but to define it more clearly and improve how we do it. Birrd offers the same services as Studio Hazar did: strategic branding, identity design, digital design, and brand touchpoints. Why Birrd

Studio Hazar was a personal name, rooted in a past life in the graffiti scene. Hazar was a personal alias and over time, the name began to feel too closely tied to one person rather than the way the work had evolved. Birrd is different. It’s a name that tells a broader story.

The concept is inspired by a murmuration: the phenomenon where hundreds or thousands of birds move together in a fluid, coordinated flight. There’s no single leader. Each bird responds to the movement of the group, creating a system that’s flexible, intelligent, and constantly adapting. That idea resonates deeply with how Birrd works.

A bird also has the ability to rise above, gaining a clear view of what’s happening below. That distance creates perspective, exactly what brands often need. We help businesses step back, see the bigger picture, and make clearer decisions about who they are and where they’re heading.

Birds are independent by nature. They move freely, choose their own paths, and yet can work together when it matters. That balance between freedom and collaboration lies at the heart of Birrd and at the heart of modern freelance work.

Hatching brands

Birrd’s baseline is “hatching brands.” And that phrase carries more meaning than we initially expected.

To hatch means, first of all, to emerge. Something new coming into the world. It also means to carefully develop an idea or plan, step by step, with intention. And in drawing and illustration, hatching is a technique used to create depth, structure, and nuance. All three meanings fit.
