Bakker Klaas & Studio Mario

Located in the Wintercircus in Ghent, Bakker Klaas and Studio Mario share one space, one oven, and one love for sourdough. By day, Bakker Klaas is an open, artisanal bakery where bread is baked in full view. By night, the same place transforms into Studio Mario, serving wood-oven baked sourdough pizzas, wine, cocktails, and aperitifs.

When Bakker Klaas moved into the Wintercircus under new ownership, Birrd was asked to create a renewed identity for Bakker Klaas and a complementary identity for Studio Mario. The challenge was to design two distinct brands that feel clearly connected, each with its own character, yet rooted in the same foundation.

We developed a shared visual system built on bold typography, character-driven illustrations, and a carefully balanced color strategy. Bakker Klaas lives in a light, welcoming palette, while Studio Mario adopts a darker, more intimate tone. The identities work together across websites, menus, signage, staff clothing, and brand guidelines, supported by an ongoing collaboration for all visual needs.
